Mr Hua Shan (Sam Hua), was born in 1971 in Daozhen County, Guizhou Province, China

He received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2014 from China Europe International Business School and a Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering in Internal Combustion Engine from Jilin University in 1992.

In 2002, Hua Shan founded Hua & Hua Marketing Consulting Co., Ltd. with his brother Hua Nan, which is the most famous branding and marketing consulting firm in China. By providing professional consulting services to numerous clients, such as HaiDiLao, Tencent’s Honor of Kings, Alibaba’s Tmall Autocare, Xibei Oat Noodle Village, Sunflower Pharmaceutical, Pan Pan Food, China Yurun Food Group Limited, Qi'anxin, Chubang, MIXUE, etc, Hua & Hua’s revenue for 2021 amounted to 340 million yuan.

In 2006, Hua Shan co-founded Dook Media Group Ltd with his brother Hua Nan, the most well-known privately-owned book publishing company in China, which was listed on the Shenzhen ChiNext in 2021, with a current market value of 5.5 billion yuan.

In 2022, Hua & Hua began to carry out strategic marketing and branding consulting business with Singapore as our overseas headquarters. In addition to managing the brands in the Chinese and Singaporean markets, we are also responsible for the global brand management of Putien Restaurant, Haidilao, and MIXUE.

In 2020, collaborating with the Communication University of Zhejiang, Hua & Hua funded the Hua & Hua – UCZ Super Sign Institute, which specialises in researching and collating Hua & Hua's marketing and communication methodologies. Mr Hua also had written academic textbooks for university students. The first textbook "Super Sign Methodologies and Case Studies" has been completed and it will be published in July this year. 

Hua & Hua has formed a systematic framework of corporate theories and marketing communication methodologies. The "Super Sign" is a unique advertising and marketing strategy consulting methodology developed by Hua & Hua. The "Hua & Hua Method", with "Super Sign" as the main theory, has penetrated deeply into all levels of Chinese enterprises. In 2013, “Super Sign is Super Creativity” was published, sold over 200,000 copies in China, and became the first professional marketing communication theory born in China. Subsequently, it has been translated into English, “Super Signs”, and published in the UK.

Mr. Hua is also an expert in Chinese history and culture, a practitioner of Sun Tzu's Art of War and Confucianism, and a best-selling author. His book "Sun Tzu's Art of War: A Modern Exposition" has sold over 1 million copies and has been published in Korea, Thailand, and the UK, distributed worldwide in four different languages. He has also written and interpreted the Four Books of classical Chinese philosophy and a central doctrine of Confucianism - The Great Learning; The Analects, The Mencius, and Doctrine of the Mean - and has published: “Hua Shan Expounds The Analects of Confucius” (110,000 copies sold), “Hua Shan Expounds The Teachings of Mencius” (60,000 copies sold) and “Hua Shan Expounds The Great Learning & Doctrine of the Mean“ (50,000 copies sold). Mr Hua Shan is also an expert in Wang Yangming's philosophy and has published “Hua Shan Expounds The Instructions for Practical Living“ (80,000 copies sold), all of which are available in Singapore. Other than the studies of Confucian philosophy, Mr Hua Shan also devotes himself to historical work, "Hua Shan Expounds the Comprehensive Mirror in Aid of Governance” which consists of 36 volumes in total, have been written and published gradually.

On China's most famous knowledge-content paying APP "Dedao", there are three audio courses by Mr Hua: “30 lectures on Sun Tzu's Art of War”, “30 lectures on Brand Marketing with Hua Shan” and “30 lectures on Confucianism with Hua Shan”, which have sold 150,000, 110,000 and 30,000 copies respectively. The courses have a wide Chinese audience worldwide (including Singapore).

Famous book publisher and advertiser in China


After graduating from Sun Yat-sen University in 1997, Mr Nan Hua entered the advertising industry in 1998 and soon began making a name for himself, and co-founded a company specialised in TV commercials. In 2002, Nan Hua left the TV commercial company and founded Hua & Hua in Guangzhou with his brother Mr Sam Hua. Hua & Hua moved from Guangzhou to Shanghai in 2003. During his time at Hua & Hua, Nan Hua was responsible for the creative work and created numerous advertising ideas which well-known in China. For instance, "Take a picture and shout Tian Qi" and "Golden Wine, Gift For Elderly".

In 2006, Hua and Hua invested and established Dook Media Group, its main businesses are book marketing and publication. Nan Hua oversaw the operations and proposed the idea of "selling books like selling toothpaste", implementing the Hua & Hua method in the publishing industry. He rebranded the novel The "Last Temple" as "The Tibetan Code", promoting it as "an encyclopedic novel about Tibet", which sold over 3 million copies. The Tibetan Code was also awarded the 2008 - 2009 China Outstanding Marketing Award. After "The Tibetan Code", Dook Media has also promoted and released a series of best-selling novels such as "Once Upon a Time in Northeast China: 20 Years of Gangster Life", "All These Years in Taiwan", "The Bleeding Career", "Notes on Officialdom" and "Lose Weight with a Riband", with single product sales 39 times higher than the industry average. From 2009 to 2013, Dook Media was ranked No. 1 in the cultural industry by Forbes' SME list for five consecutive years.

As an advertiser, Nan Hua was awarded the China Outstanding Marketing Award in 2008 and 2009. In the publishing industry, he was awarded Chinese Publisher of the Year in 2009 and 2016 by Publisher magazine. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Book and Magazine Distribution Industry Association, and received the Top 10 Innovative People Award for Shanghai Cultural Enterprises in 2020 from the Shanghai City Government. In 2021, Nan Hua received the  "4 Batches" talent award as well as the National High-Level Talents Special Support Programme for Leaders in Philosophy and Social Sciences Awrd from China Central Organisation Department and Publicity Department. Dook Media Group founded by Nan Hua, went public in 2021 and broke the record of the highest single-day increase for an A-share listed company in China of the century by increasing 19 times on the same day (Data collated on January 2023).
